Among the biggest issues facing the city now include all aspects of housing - supply, affordability, and condition. I will do my best to keep housing available, affordable and in good condition.  

There is the constant need to run the city, which is expensive. To keep it running requires responsibly managing financial resources. Our tax dollars are those financial resources. I will do my best to assure that city financial resources are managed responsibly and benefit all of us equally and equitably.  

City government must plan and prepare for the future by constantly investing in its infrastructure and operations so that residents can continue to live and work successfully. I will do my best to assure that the city is prepared for societal growth and change. 

As a university professor I have devoted my career to studying our climate, environment, and society. Our society and our community are already adversely impacted by a changing climate—think increased storm damage to roads and buildings, and flooding such as the Rapidan Dam failure as some examples. I will work hard to make Mankato as resilient as possible to our changing environment by adapting to and mitigating climate change in city infrastructure and land use policies.
